Here are some steps you can try yourself if you’d like;

Step 1– Check the lights on the top of the SmartRG modem/router to make sure the power, DSL, Internet and wifi lights are on.

Step 2– If the DSL light is off check the phone cord and make sure it is plugged firmly into the phone jack that was initially installed by the technician and then make sure that the other end of the phone cord is firmly pressed into the back of the modem in the DSL port.

  • If this does not work then please turn off the modem and then turn it back on after 10 seconds. If the light does not come back on then contact your internet tech support.

Step 3– If the internet light is off but the DSL light is on then turn off the modem for 30 seconds and then turn it back on if the light does not come back up contact your internet tech support.

Step 4– If the wifi light is off then hold down the wifi button for 10 seconds and see if the light turns back on, if the light does not come back up then hook up an ethernet cable to the back of the modem in one of the LAN ports and then hook the other end of the ethernet cable into a computer.

  • Once there, open a browser on the computer like google chrome or internet explorer and enter 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the web address field.
  • Then click on MANAGE GATEWAY on the top right-hand side of the NEWTWORK MAINTENCE page.
  • Once the box opens up put ADMIN in the username and ADMIN in the password.
  • Then click on Wireless and make sure your SSID is the name of the wifi that you want.
  • Then click on SECURITY under the WIRELESS menu and make sure the black dots are your desired password.
  • If anything is not set up the way you set it up go ahead and change it at this time and hit APPLY.
  • If this does not work then call your Internet Tech Support.
  • Test your internet speed: starcommunications.speedtest.net
